Florence Knapp
Florence Knapp

Florence Knapp is a distinctive literary writer whose career bridges both storytelling and education. Best known for her richly crafted short fiction—recognized by the Bridport Prize and honored with the Acorn Award from the Bath Short Story Award she brings a quiet intensity and precision to everything she writes.

Before venturing into fiction, Florence explored the tactile art of quilt making through a nonfiction work that unearthed centuries-old techniques, and her creative reach extended to the halls of the Victoria and Albert Museum through a collaborative publication.

Beyond the page, Florence has spent over a decade and a half building educational tools with her husband, blending creativity with a mission to support literacy in schools. Now based in Kent with her loyal dog Nell and a musician husband (who, she’s quick to clarify, bears no resemblance to the fictional counterpart in her debut), she’s entering a new chapter as a novelist.

The Names marks her first foray into long-form fiction—an elegant, human debut shaped by a life steeped in learning, art, and quiet observation.
