A John Scognamiglio Book is a distinguished imprint of Kensington Publishing, founded in 2018 and helmed by longtime editor and publishing veteran John Scognamiglio. A graduate of New York University with a B.A. in English, Scognamiglio began his publishing journey in 1986 at Pocket Books, working his way from the Contracts Department to the editorial division—a department he always aspired to join.
In 1992, he moved to Kensington Publishing, quickly rising through the editorial ranks. He became Senior Editor in 1993, Editorial Director of Fiction in 1998, and eventually Editor-in-Chief in 2005. With over three decades of editorial experience, Scognamiglio launched his namesake imprint to showcase powerful voices and compelling storytelling across genres, particularly in historical fiction, women’s fiction, and contemporary drama.
His editorial guidance has supported the success of numerous New York Times bestselling authors, including Lisa Jackson, Joanne Fluke, Leslie Meier, and Kevin O’Brien. The imprint reflects Scognamiglio’s deep passion for fiction that resonates with readers and highlights emotionally rich narratives with wide appeal.
